While checking out different blog posts I ran across a blog site that was very interesting its called the Daily Food Buzz at http://food.dailybuzz.com/channel/global. This blog page is very interactive and has everything from healthy recipes to recipes from around the world. My favorite recipe is the Celeriac Soup they have posted. I love celery and this soup looks like celery bisque, the ingredients even remind me of bisque. I want to share this recipe with you. I must admit, when I prepared the soup I added Grandma Maud’s Premium Southern Seasoning to it and it just made the already delicious soup pop! The recipe I am shareing with you is the one I made with the Grandma Maud’s Premium Southern Seasoning.
Celeriac Soup |
Author: Minimally adapted from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 30 mins
Total time: 40 mins
Serves: 6
Ingredients
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 celeriac, peeled and cut into cubes
1 large potato, peeled and cut into cubes
1 Leek, trimmed, washed and roughly sliced
1 Onion, peeled and roughly chopped
1 Garlic clove, sliced
1 litre of vegetable stock
2 Tablespoons of Grandma Maud’s Premium Southern Seasoning
salt and pepper, to taste
a handful of parsley leaves, washed and roughly chopped
Instructions
- Place a large pot over a medium low heat and add the olive oil. Add the celeriac, leek, potato, garlic and onion, and season with salt and pepper. Gently sweat the vegetables until the celeriac starts to soften, around 10 minutes.
- Add the vegetable stock and bring the soup up to a boil before reducing to a simmer. Simmer for 20 minutes or until the celeriac is completely tender. Add the parsley and use an immersion blender to puree until smooth, or alternatively blend in batches in a blender. Return to the heat and check the seasoning and adjust as necessary.
- Serve with a drizzle of olive oil or a dollop of yoghurt or sour cream.

The soup is truly as good as it looks and it is healthy and takes no time at all to prepare. This recipe is found under their healthy section. I took a look at the global section and I was a little disappointed. There was a recipes representing different cultures, but no proper recipe to represent the Southern Part of the United States, there was no Southern Style meal. Being that Grandma Maud’s is all about Southern Style foods, we had to suggest a Southern Style meal be added to the global section of the Daily Food Buzz.
What would you use to represent the south if you were asked to show natives what Southern Style food is? I would have to use Ham Hocks and Greens as my meal. Post your representation of a Southern Style Meal right here on Grandma Maud’s blog page.
Don’t forget to like Grandma Maud’s Facebook page and to Follow Grandma Maud’s on Twitter.
Thanks, I can’t wait to see all of your representations of Southern Style meals!

Grandma Maud’s, helping people prepare delicious meals, not just servings of food!
A great representation of a Southern Style meal would be black eyed peas and neck bones and corn bread!
