Every year Jewel hosts a series of events throughout February to celebrate Black History Month and promote black owned businesses that sell product through Jewel. There will be three dozen businesses participating in this year’s 14th annual promotion, including Grandma Maud’s. Jewel stores throughout Chicago will be hosting the events after the kickoff tomorrow, January 24, at 1655 E. 95th Street. The event will include VIP shopping with savings opportunities and a sweepstakes with up to $1000 in gift cards. There will also be a live performance by a local Chicago band, Zzaje, and an appearance by celebrity chef, Josh Marks, who was the runner up on the third season of Master Chef. Jewel will also be donating three $10,000 gifts to community organizations including Chicago’s St. Felicitas Church Food Pantry and the Grant-A-Wish Food Pantry. The third donation will be selected by the top voted vendor, chosen by the customers.
Grandma Maud’s President and Founder, Paul Fregia, will be in attendance with his demo team, handing out samples, coupons and meeting customers. We will also be at eight of the following events hosted by the Chicago Jewel Stores and have posted our schedule for you below.
