Although I’m a southerner from the Gulf coast of Texas, I’ve cultivated most of my business life in the great city of Chicago. I started off as an electrical engineer. Over time I progressed in management with various companies like Container Corporation (Mobile/Exxon) and Hewlett-Packard. Ultimately, I entered the food industry with a national supplier to McDonald’s, Damron Corporation. There I served as Vice President of Operations for over ten years.
It was these collective experiences, along with a deep connection to my roots, which propelled me to strike out on my own with Grandma Maud’s. The food business is not an easy one, yet the brand Grandma Maud’s Down Home Cookin’ has been in the marketplace for over seventeen years. It can be found on the shelves of some of the top retailers in the nation. SuperValu, Kroger and Safeway to name a few.
The growth of a small business is a long and arduous one, but it is the knowledge gained on that road that helps pave the way to future success. It is these experiences that matter most of all.
