One of the greatest things about Chicago is the food. Chicago is a melting pot of cultures and with each culture brings with them ethnic cuisines. Reporter Anders Fogh Rasmussen talks about the “NATO Chicago Experience” he had at the NATO headquarters in Brussels. There were several events put on while preparing for this two day summit held here in Chicago May 20 & 21 http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/ct-perspec-0520-secretarynato-20120520,0,1729280.story.
Here at Grandma Maud’s we think the real “NATO Chicago Experience” would have come from the plethora of the food manufacturers found in Chicago. Having these companies on display would have let the attendees of these events see that they just may have a piece of Chicago’s history in their cabinets or refrigerators already.
Companies like Kraft was founded here in Chicago, Oscar Mayer and his brother Gottfried started “Oscar Mayer” right on the near-north side of Chicago in 1883. I’m sure some Chicagoans didn’t know that the Quaker Oats Company and Keebler Company are right here. Everyone has heard of Garrett’s Popcorn shop, which is founded; yes you guessed it, right here in Chicago!
There is one best keep secret maybe Chicagoans don’t know and that is Grandma Maud’s. Grandma Maud’s is a Chicago based company that specializes in “Southern Meals.” We offer consumers “Southern Cuisines” in a fraction of the time it takes to prepare the meal.
