Soul food is good-ole-down home cooking, just what Grandma Maud’s is all about! Soul food has it’s roots in African American cooking for centuries. However it was not until the 1960’s that the “soul food” designator was born out of the Black Nationalist movement. “Soul food” honors the tradition of cooking unwanted cuts of meats and less than desirable vegetables into delicious meals that are still cherished today.
